On June 6 and June 7, 2026, Shinma’s Handmade Food Time will host a Taiwanese Dragon Boat Festival zongzi workshop in Machida, Tokyo. It is a small, hands-on gathering for people in Japan who miss the smell of bamboo leaves, sticky rice, and a Taiwanese holiday table.
Each participant will make four savory Taiwanese zongzi. The class also includes a Taiwanese-style lunch and afternoon tea, so this is not only a cooking lesson, but also a quiet afternoon to cook, eat, and talk together in Japanese daily life.
For questions and registration, please contact the organizer directly on Instagram. Shinra Cooking is helping share the event information.

What you will make and eat
- Make 4 Taiwanese savory zongzi per person.
- Lunch is included: Taiwanese fried rice vermicelli and milkfish ball soup.
- Afternoon tea is included: Taiwanese high mountain tea and freshly fried sweet potato balls.
The class is designed for a small group, so you can actually wrap the zongzi yourself instead of only watching a demonstration. If you live in Japan and do not often have a chance to make Dragon Boat Festival food with other Taiwanese-food lovers, this is the kind of gathering where the table itself becomes part of the memory.
